Michael Moore: Rep. Ilhan Omar Reflects on the Death of Her Father Due To Complications with COVID-1

On the "Rumble with Michael Moore" podcast, Rep. Ilhan Omar reflected on the death of her father due to complications with COVID-19. Rep. Ilhan Omar: "Thank you for your condolences. It's been a challenge coming to terms with the fact that he's taken from us. You know, my father was a fighter. For me, it just sort of puts an exclamation point on just how dangerous this virus is and how many people's lives are being stolen by it and how seriously we need to take it in not just urging people to wear masks, but testing and tracing." "My father was an avid mask wearer. And, you know, he was quite frustrated at times when he would briefly step out, that he would encounter people without a mask. And it's a reminder that we don't wear the mask for ourselves.  We wear it for the protection of others, as well. And so when others wear it, they're protecting us. And so it's a reciprocal thing that we do as a community to keep each other safe. And I just know that the people he came into contact with, if they were wearing a mask, that his life would have been saved and he would have still been here with us. And so I just hope that people take that seriously."  "And our leaders continue to urge people to take it seriously and wear masks themselves, as well." Michael Moore: "Well, I'm really, really sorry that this happened to him, to you, to your family. From what I know of you and, of course, we've met and spoken, your mother I believe died when you were very young." Rep. Ilhan Omar: "He was mostly my mother and father. And so this is a real loss. Very hard." *********** This podcast was published on July 3, 2020. To listen to the full episode, go to: Apple: Klik hier Klik hier Klik hier

Michael Moore: Rep. Ilhan Omar on Minneapolis PD: "Really Important For Us To Gut It, Figure Out How

On the Rumble with Michael Moore podcast, Congresswoman Ilhan Omar and Michael Moore discussed the police murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis and the uprisings around the nation that his death have sparked. Rep. Omar, who represents Minneapolis, told Michael Moore that minor reforms would not be sufficient and that it is necessary to "gut" the Minneapolis PD and rebuild. Rep. Omar said: "Reforms in the way in which we used to think about them are no longer going to save lives in our city. And they are not going to save our communities and they are not going to save our nation. And so there are many municipalities around the country that have police departments that need a little push in order to do better. But the Minneapolis Police Department, in my belief, isn't one of those. And so it is going to be really important for us to gut it and figure out how to rebuild a new policy and standard that will keep all of us safe and will attend to the needs of the community." Rep. Omar added: "When you have systems that are entrenched in systematic oppression and injustice, reforms around the edge that barely scratched the surface are not going to create the kind of positive outcome that you ultimately want in keeping everyone safe and wanting people to have full liberation and access to their constitution and the mandated right to life and liberty. And so Minneapolis is one of those rare cities that has a duty to intervene as a policy for their police officers." The "Rumble with Michael Moore" podcast was published on Friday, July 3rd, 2020. Ep. 95: Are We Ready For The Big Trump Surprise? | Rumble w Michael Moore podcast

We are in the middle of a perfect storm of white supremacy, fascism, a police killing spree, an uprising against it, the Coronavirus pandemic, and a mad genius who will be willing to fake his own vaccine shot just to get re-elected in an election he has no intention of holding. Ep. 93: Juneteenth (w Rep. Barbara Lee, D-CA, The granddaughter of a slave) | Rumble w Michael Moore

Two and a half years after President Abraham Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation was supposed to have freed the slaves, news of the war ending — and that Lincoln had freed the slaves back in 1863 — finally made it to Galveston, Texas, on June 19th, 1965. So Texas, against its will, finally re-joined the rest of the Union, all slaves were freed and Juneteenth is now the holiday truly commemorating the freeing of all the slaves in America. Congresswoman Barbara Lee's grandfather was born a slave in Galveston post-Emancipation Proclamation, but weeks before Juneteenth, making this commemoration especially meaningful to Rep. Lee and her family. On this 155th commemoration of Juneteenth, Rep. Lee joins Michael to discuss the never-ending struggle for freedom for Black Americans and her courageous, lone vote against a never-ending war, 3 days after 9/11. ************ Read More About Rep. Dating back to 1865, it was on June 19th that the Union soldiers, led by Major General Gordon Granger, landed at Galveston, Texas with news that the war had ended and that the enslaved were now free. The Emancipation Proclamation of 1863 had had little impact on the Texans due to the minimal number of Union troops to enforce the new Executive Order. However, with the surrender of General Lee in April of 1865, and the arrival of General Granger’s regiment, the forces were finally strong enough to influence and overcome the resistance of the white racist slave owners and the poor white population willing to die for those rich racist bastards. Crazy! Texas today is no longer a “white state.” 58% of its population is now made up of Black, Hispanic, Asian and other people of color. ********************** Send in a voice message: Klik hier

The idea of police "reform" has been tried and has failed. Weeks after rebellions have sprung up across America in the wake of the police killing George Floyd, small ripples of change keep occurring, including in popular culture.
